The Design Process
The first step is to book a consultation. This can be done through the website using the link provided.
The initial consultation involves a site visit by our designer, during which the sites orientation, ground conditions, existing infrastructure and clients’ priorities and requirements will all be considered.
It is preferable that all interested parties are present at the initial consultation to ensure all views and aspects are taken into account.
It is also recommended where possible that the clients supply the following:
- In the case of new builds; A scaled Site layout plan showing site boundaries and existing buildings
- Also, in the case of new builds; any relevant Conditions of the Planning Permission
- Any previous Plans/Designs
- A list of specific issues that they would like to discuss i.e., drainage problems, access requirements
During the meeting our designer will make notes and recommendations which will be made available to the client.
Site Visits/Consultations are charged at €150 payable on the day by cash or cheque. A visit lasts for 1 hour with additional time billed at €50 per hour. If the site is located more than 50km away an additional charge for travel will apply. If the proposed works are of a straightforward nature, it may be possible to provide a quote on the day.
For more complex sites a detailed landscape design will need to be drawn in order to provide an accurate quotation.
If, following the consultation it is deemed that a detailed landscape design is required and the client is happy to proceed, a scale drawing will be prepared.
It will detail the following:
- Treatment of the site boundaries i.e., entrances, hedging, walling, fencing
- Tree and shrub planting i.e., species, variety, size, form, position
- Planting schemes
- Paving materials, paved areas, seating areas
- Special features i.e., water features, sculptures
- Children’s play areas
- Orchards, Vegetable areas, Greenhouses, polytunnels
- Treatment of changes in level, retaining walls, steps
- Practical considerations, drainage, access, screening, wind breaks
Once the landscape design is finalised it will form the basis for the construction drawings.
The cost of the landscape design is dependent on the scope of the proposed works. Designs generally start at €400
An additional charge will apply if there are substantial revisions
Install high quality paving for driveways and patio areas
